SERVICE
GUIDELINES & DESCRIPTION
Basic
Audio Service:
Audio is digitized to audio into CDA or
MP3. Service is limited to trimming with tracking extra.
Information is written to a disc. (CD or DVD). Service is provided at a
flat rate. However, minimal audio are provided.
Restoration
Service: Once
digitized, audio can be analyzed and additional services performed.
Frequently
we edit audio/music by taking out unwanted sections, combining track or
rearranging music
location and sequence. Or, preparing the music for use in a video or iPOD. This service is by the hour or by a quote.
Some Frequent
concerns & requests are:
-
Equalized
Volume--a must for Internet download files as individual tunes/files may have different volume setting.
-
Audio tapes
have "natural" noise. When the recording level is set "Low",
event recording completes with tape noise. It is possible to
mask out the undesired noise (at an extra cost!). Some
extreme cases are hopeless such as recording dictation while
driving a car with the window open.
-
Vinyl
records have audible noise normally identified as "Hiss and
Pops". Audiophiles love the authentic nature of the sound. The
sound can be removed by request during post production.
-
Digitally enhance audio: remove dead space, identify and create
audio clips/sound bites interest.
-
Compensate for
poorly sounding tapes perhaps by digitally increasing the playing
speed (or slowing) or tinkering with kHz voice band frequency.
-
Change music format for MP3 players &
develop iPOD format with data structure.
-
Music
CD: arrange audio mix, enriched
& mastered.
-
Create
a "Studio Master" for duplication/replication requirements.
-
Track audio for a play list.
-
Record
voice mail--cell phones--answering devices on CD.
-
Add Voice-over and some special effects.
We are governed by
copyrights so please read our
"Fair Use Policy"
ANALOG DEVICES
ANSWERING MACHINES
& PHONES We
can record message from your office PBX system and cell phones. Just
provide Printergy with the cell phone number and appropriate codes. The
message will be recorded directly to our computers. We can provide an
audio file in CDA or WAV format. Editing is also available.
VINYL
RECORD PRODUCTS
Vinyl
Record Basic Service includes album cleaning to
cleanse surface from dirt and handling oils. Tracking is an
optional service.
Media:
16, 33, 45 and 78 RPM
Format: CDA, MP3, iPod, MP4 where CDA is
default format.
ANTIQUE RECORDING REQUIRE TLC: Aluminum
discs, discs requiring soft wax needles; discs with one side
recording; records which play from the center hub outward; records
with unusual tracking weight.
SHELLAC COATING
on records often have numerous cracks and problems. It is very difficult
(not impossible) to remove the effect of aging shellac on 78 rpm
records.
FYI
Older automobile CD players
require CDA format! and we not squeeze extra audio onto to a CDA
disc.
LP to CD
recording space:
In CDA format, a typical
LP album fills around 2/3's
of on a CD. It is our practice not to place more audio on LP to CD
transfer
In
MP3 / iPod format, often 25 LP albums can be placed on a CD.
Sound Restoration Often, audiophiles want hear the sounds of the stylus/needle on the
reacting with vinyl groves, "Hiss and Pops". By
customer request we can remove Hiss & Pop during post production. This
option is available in
Basic Service.
There are many other audio situations which can be addressed with our
Restoration Service. Removing unpleasant "noise" at
the "low end" of the sound range is
Restoration option. Our engineers can "level the sound" by turning up the threshold noise level and remove lower dB "noise"
while other "noise" may remain. Audio can also be
adjusted using a digital "sound equalizer" with
portions of audio kHz band.
FYI Downloaded internet songs are classic case. If you
have to reach for the volume button too often, constantly turning the
same songs up and others down, your mix CD music should be equalized.

Audio cassettes

Normally 90 minute

Standard 120 minute cassettes
have a potential of 60 minutes per side |

Mini and micro size
cassettes generally are 30 minutes/side. |
 |
8 Track Tapes.
 |
8 track
are difficult to control and often requires audio capture and editing
for excellent results (extra cost) |
|
We do minor repairs, splicing & tape off reel situations.
A $15 fee is added for troublesome repairs.
CD RECORDING TIME maximum
is 80 minutes poses a problem when audio is over the limit. If we are
not lucky, two CDs are produced. Side 1 and Side 2 are placed on
separate discs. No extra charge.
Open Audio Reel
1/4" tape service covers
spool diameter sizes: 3", 5", 7" & 10.5
speeds of 1 7/8, 3¾, 7½
Inches Per Second (IPS)].
Basic Service to CDA format
with trimming leading/trailing audio leaders &15 minutes of "cleanup"
time per reel.
Restoration services are
extra services
required to fix recording situations
 |
Often, reel tapes have
multiple recording speeds, and they will have to set to a standard
speed. Faster tape speed jams more recording onto the tape; which
creates more audio to capture and save on a storage device.

 |
Direction of recording and Tape Spooling!
|
 |
Excessive tape and splice breakage!
|
 |
And other
surprises as well ! |
RECORDING TIME on reel tapes, reflects the original recording
parameters selected. On face value, we assume an 80 minute contains
about
80 minute of
audio. Upfront, we charge for this. However, when the
original recording speed selected meant more audio was placed on the
reel, we need to adjust the cost to the consumer. This fact causes us to place your audio on multiple 80
minute CDs (extra charge).

FYI Extra effort is required to select "splitting point" and
burn multiple disc. And, for this we impose an
extra charge. This information is not known when we take in the job and
this effects the service quotation.
FYI
We no longer have a working "Rim Player"
[small diameter variable speed reel player ].

DIGITAL RECORDING DEVICES
Cell
Phones & Smart Phones have a lot in common:
Recording
may be stored on each device, perhaps on an SD type card or can be
located on the providers system.
In most
situations, please provide Printergy with the telephone number and PIN
access cords.
Audio (as
well as video/pictures) usually is downloaded into our computers.
Once in our computers, we can provide levels of audio service as
desired.
Typically, we recommend two treatments.
-
The
first provides an audio file of the entire voice message contents without audio
editing and enhancements.
-
The
second option provides an edited file with "enhanced" audio
quality (equalizing & filtering audio activity) and non-germane
audio removed.
Digital
Recording Devices
are the
familiar hand held dictation machines. But they may be others as
well. These devices can be connected to our computers by
familiar Red and White RCA cables. Information can be downloaded by
"playing" audio in our recording software.
