SCOPE
Printergy scans & digitizes back office records, bound books & manuals, documents, 35mm slides, x-rays, pictures and  ….   material can be individual pieces or stored in file folders, banker boxes.

DOCUMENTS    We do back office conversion & litigation support for medical offices, law firms and business. We can prepare documents for many uses including search!

BOOKS, MAGAZINES & MANUALS    can be scanned. By removing coil / GBC bindings the material can be scanned at high speed.  Binding are generally replaceable. With other situations, the document's spine is sacrificed; the binding is cut away with a guillotine knife.

OVERSIZED ITEMS      Our largest scanning bed is 12 x18 and "most" larger items can be "STITCHED" together in software applications like Photoshop.  For large and multi-dimential object, we take digital picture. We have a wall mounted "shooting" wall & overhead "photo stand".

MICROFILM & MICROFICHE  image conversion  is supported. Fiche products are converted into  PDF/TIFF graphic formats.

FIRST STOP   A likely first step is to scan documents into a PDF format.  This step helps minimize physically handling paper and enable faster distribution. After scanning, we can prepare the documents based on customer requirements.

SCANNING CAPACITY

Printergy has several documents scanners.  Most units are "group" production level---perhaps around 3 to 5,000 prepared pages a day.  We also have a one production level scanner and it is rated at 8,000 pages per day.

In addition, we have graphic and film slide scanners.

PDF formatted  documents are flexible.

PDF docs can be made "SEARCHABLE" thru

PDF Hidden Text treatment

Re-purposed to text based document

Optical Character Recognition (OCR) is the term applied to this "re-purposing function".  Most major word processors such as M/S Word & Excel are based upon text data files.

Any PDF image can also become "TIFF"/"JPG"  or text by doing a "Save AS Text" or "Save as 'graphic image' " statement .

Some PDF Services are:

Create, bookmark and make documents searchable Endorse and Bate Stamp documents

Merge & Split  PDF files

Create TIFF & Text pages from PDF images

Optical Character Recognition, OCR , services into  MSWORD / RTF / ASCII etc;

Deliver the data into an FTP site or disc.

Document (re) formatting

And, so much more

SEARCH PREPARATION

Document can be prepared for "SEARCH" by transforming the document or documents into searchable text formats.  Preparation can be as minimal as creating Hidden Text version and using the "find" or "search" command within Adobe PDF. Other standalone software is advanced search.

Search can take place on your computer's hard drive or on the web.

 SCANNING MATERIAL & CONCEPTS:

PROBLEM MATERIAL.

EQUIPMENT CHOICES  Many documents are not suited for high speed scanning. And we try to match the desired scanning outcome with the equipment that can deliver.

EDGE SCAN Some books & magazines are scannable by draping the book/material over the "edge" using a "Book Edge device". Yet, I would not scan a leather bound book because repeated draping will surely crack the binding.

ON THE GLASS / WHITE GLOVES Some items require the scanning operator to wear white gloves and/or cautiously place each page on the scanning glass.

CAPACITY and  CAPABILITY    We have high capacity duplex document & slide scanning machines; we scan color, gray scale and B&W.  Document sizes range from Post Office return receipts to 11 x17 double sided documents.

DPI & QUALITY  Text scanners can provide up to 600 DPI service where as graphic scanners can provide 4,000 DPI scans.

PDF SERVICE         We provide Adobe services such as:  book marking, endorsement/bates stamping, redaction, etc. Documents are OCR-ed into Adobe Hidden Text, Microsoft Word and/or HTML.

QUALITY CONTROL Often neglected but always needed. We check our work and commit resources!

STANDARD OF CARE  When faced with a material quality situation, it is best to decide in advance what to do. If the documents have deteriorated with time and handling; been exposed to too much light, kept in uncontrolled humidity or are water logged; or for whatever ever reason, document handlers believe that documents are to "delicate", it is best to decide a plan of action in advance.  If the documents can not take the handing, perhaps digital photography is a better route.
